I'm on peds now and it's my top choice of specialty (FYI my home program is my top choice for now). But I never get more than 1 week with any given attending due to COVID changes. How am I supposed to get a letter after 1 week?? Also, when do you ask - if I ask later I will be performing better but if I don't click with my later preceptors then I'm out of luck..

Any insight would be great, thanks!
Pre-CoVID this was the case for me in IM (my desired specialty) due to hospitalist schedules and working on a residency team. My Letter writer still had enough experiences with me, feedback from my patients, and feedback from the residents to write one (though I can’t see it so I hope it’s enthusiastic).

This was the case for me on all rotations pre-COVID. You just have to do what you can within the week you work with them.
