So I just got an email today from a program saying that I need to register for the NRMP before they can rank me. I registered immediately after around 3 PM, but am worried programs might have already uploaded their lists by then without my ID on there. Should I call programs about this issue or assume that if they haven’t contacted me they haven’t uploaded their lists yet?
Wait so the program legit reached out specifically to ask you to register?

I would imagine the vast majority of programs are still mulling over their lists.

Take this as a good thing that someone somehow knew. No, it will not affect you. It's in no one's interest (program-wise) to submit now even if their list is done just in case there's some reason they want to change it. Contact the program in question regardless.

You have nothing to lose by politely emailing the program coordinators and letting them know. Then you’ve at least got peace of mind. While many may not have submitted lists, I know ours would always submit our list immediately after the last interview day in January.

Just a couple lines saying another program contacted you saying they couldn’t find your NRMP registration information and you wanted to touch base and make sure they had it. Then include your info. Easy.

Wait, what?!? 😳
The problem with that @operaman is that many aren't even registered by Jan 31. Some do it last minute Feb 1st.

Well within a couple days of our final interview day which was usually late January. So certainly done by early February. Doesn’t nrmp open for registrations early January? It’s been awhile so maybe my memory is rusty.

It's Feb 1st this year. Not sure what it was previously and if it's changed because of COVID.

Ah. Yeah looks like sept 15 was when applicants could start registering and the deadline was Jan 31 with rank lists opening feb 1. So I guess for OP they’re probably fine since lists could only start going in yesterday.

Thank you both for your help. If I do decide to contact the program coordinators, I was wondering if it had any negative repercussions? I’ve read in past threads about it potentially looking bad? Thanks!

No idea, but don't see what's wrong with sending out something generic like this out.

"I apologize for bothering you at this busy time. I was contacted by a program within the match inquiring about my incomplete NRMP registration status. I wanted to send your program a confirmation that I am now fully registered with NRMP for matching. I apologize if this led to any confusion. Please do not feel obligated to respond unless you have further questions"

Edit: Now that put in the effort of typing that, I can see how there are multiple potentially touchy points, but if you're really that worried, I don't see how something worded as neutral/brief/innocent as that can harm you.

no negative repercussions at all assuming you’re polite. This is exactly the kind of thing that coordinators handle every single day. The poster above gave a fantastic sample email. I might even make it shorter.

Dear _______,
Another program contacted me about my registration being incomplete. I believe I’ve corrected the problem and am reaching out to let know in case you had run into similar problems. Thank you all again for a wonderful interview experience. Please give everyone my best.
Sincerely,
You
