Either wait until COVID is over, or n the mean time, you can work on your nonclinical volunteering. Venues include scribing, food banks, COVID screening or contact tracing, Meals on Wheels, election poll working (normally done by seniors) and whatever your local houses of worship can suggest.Hey everyone! I'm 17 years old and a sophomore at a CC, and currently not doing anything in terms of ECs. I can't really find any ECs to do because I'm still not 18 and covid. I'm also a little confused; given that I am still 17 and plan on graduating by 19, what is a recommended timeline if I plan on taking 1 gap year? Should I take 2 gap years? What should I do now in terms of gaining experience? Thanks!
Hey! Someone in the thread has already mentioned AmeriCorps, but a specific AmeriCorps program that might be a good gap year opportunity you could look into is National Health Corps. It is a national AmeriCorps program specifically related to healthcare/public health and members serve in hospitals, community center, elementary schools, addiction treatment centers, etc and its a great way to get hands-on patient/clinical experience. I am currently in the program myself, so if you have any questions about the program or about my experience, feel free to PM me! I just wanted to put the word out about NHC : )Hey everyone!
