I don't think its worth mentioning any summer shadowing experience after MS1, since it will likely be shadowed by comments from your clinical experience during MS3-4.

However, since you had a very positive experience, keep in touch with the faculty and head of the department and come back during MS4 for an away rotation. I presume any positive comments or LoRs from that will be taken much more seriously by residency programs.

Thank you! Would a LOR from a future away rotation at this program only help with applying to that specific residency program?

Bump and clarification... if you do an away rotation at a top institution and get a LOR, do you just use that LOR for that program? My assumption was away rotations are shorter so the LOR wouldn’t be for your general application but I’m not sure

You can use the LoR for *any* residency program. Whether you think its strategically advantageous is a different story and would depend on your overall performance.

During my 4 week IM acting internship, I worked with 4 different attendings, 2 of whom wrote me LoRs.
