YES! I made so many things during that time....and I am doing again right now waiting for match day after interviewing for residency and let me tell you, it really does help. If you're a first time crocheter start with like a scarf, then maybe a small single color blanket, then maybe mix in some other colors, then once you get really comfortable with single crochet, you can start doing more complex things like amigurumi (little stuffed animals) and guide yourself through the different stitches with youtube. Highly recommend this hobby lol

Lol same here! I jumped on the crochet train during the initial COVID lockdown, and now I’m crocheting M4 away waiting for match day.

OP, med schools love hobbies/interests that are not related to health care. It will give you something unique to talk about on interviews!

I picked up knitting seriously this year as a pandemic/boring zoom lecture hobby, definitely recommend 🙂 it’s not helping me get into residency but it is helping me channel my anxiety into something fun and productive

This order makes so much more sense - the first thing I ever crocheted was an amigurumi and it was a CHALLENGE. That said, throwing myself off the deep end with it really forced me to improve fast!!

A lot of my friends have told me to start crocheting while I am waiting. Do y'all think this is worth it? What are the risks and benefits? Will I become addicted to crocheting and never be able to get off it in medical school?
it's not my favorite type of croch, but it's pretty good.
