School X T 50
Pros

• --full tuition scholarship, est CoL ~125k over 5 years
• --funded masters degree (hence 5th year)
• An hour away from SO & family
• Home programs for my specialty of interest
• Close to beach

Cons

• --not as prestigious
• --very conservative location, lacks diversity
• Second year graded, internal rankings, no true P/F
• Teaching hospital about 20+ mins away from med campus

School Y T 20
Pros

• --prestige
• --funded masters that I can complete within 4 years
• 10 minutes away from SO & family
• Loved in the area for years, friends and support system here
• 1 year pre clinical, 3rd year discovery year
• True P/F, clinicals currently P/F
• Extremely diverse environment
• My dream school forever

• --less aid…~200k+ over 4 years

Summary: I think it’s obvious where I’m leaning towards but there’s nothing like anonymous internet peeps to put things in perspective for me

If you are committed to doing a masters as well, doing it within 4 years gives you an extra year of salary as an attending. So it evens out.

being that close to your SO and Family is one of the only things I’d pay that much more money for. Go to the T20 and be happy!

It’s closer to ~100k difference bc I didn’t get CoL for either, and 5 years vs 4. But yay that’s the general consensus
