Who told you this? Maybe you think it's a red flag because you want to highlight what is most important to you as a future physician. You can discuss it as a meaningful experience.I am applying MD only, but I have had extensive research experience that if I do not mention it in my personal statement, it is a red flag. I also really enjoy my research and I plan on doing more research as an MD. The problem is, the gray area between why not only MD vs. why not only PhD or just MD/PhD is confusing me. I want to let the adcoms know clinical work is my primary interest, but want to do a little bit of research. How do I write this without making them feel like I am pursuing an MD degree for the wrong reasons and that I should just go with a PhD, or just both MD/PhD?
Great this is the exact explanation I needed. Thank you!I also had extensive research experience, and loved every minute. I chose to write about it, because it was part of my path towards medicine. I considered going the PhD route and being a bench researcher, but my experiences led me towards the MD route. It took many iterations of my PS and almost a dozen different people reading it and giving feedback to make sure it added to my narrative of “why medicine.” I’m glad I included it, and it gave me great talking points in interviews. It was easy to answer questions about things I am passionate about. If you choose to include it, just make sure it fits into your narrative. If its done well, I think it can be a good addition.
So sadistic and cruel lol. The process of applying to and getting in is already hard and you're talking about penalty. And the fact that Goro loved the comment. Boy I need a break from this site.I am beginning to think we should start applying "penalties" like in football. "loss of 5 yards" for overthinking that research is a red flag

Lol well as far as I heard (and from personal experience), you guys have the opposite of that on SDN.We have low thresholds for neuroticism
You seem to make things lighter <3I think a penalty of delaying an application verification by. 0001 msec would be plenty punishment.
All in good fun.
Was I supposed to know that? I don't think I am able to read minds of an unknown internet avatar.Considering I usually treat neurotic applicants like a marine drill sergeant hazing new recruits, i think my comment was down lighthearted
