EM for sure. I’m sure the orthobros can throw down too. I could see anesthesiology slamming some cocktails, the alcohol kind that is, and getting saucy as well

EM, but every EM doc I know is now an alcoholic. Not kidding here

What about internal med? 7 days off with no call sounds like a great oppotunity to have fun to me.

Anecdotally and in my experience, I would say it correlates directly (and strongly) with acuity of work. EM, general surgery, neurosurgery, and ortho are always down to party. It's more the type of work - and the type of person that work attracts - than the specialty, to some extent.

I've got a lot of IM friends, and while they're great, generally internal medicine people are much more laid back and not going to want to stick around at the bar past 9 or 10.

on the other end of the spectrum I imagine path, neuro, peds, rads as most likely to spend the weekend night playing board games

Nah we go hard (rads). I frequently drink with my coresidents and PD.

Weird question. But we in the surg subs tend to be a good time

Neuro is highly variable, but the inpatient and vascular crew - including the older docs - generally throw down hard.

IM for sure.

Many of my IM (hospitalist) colleagues are into partying. I would even call a few of them functional alcoholic.

I would say not psych.

Just too down to earth to throw ragers. Definitely ortho or uro with the win… maybe OBGYN

Neuro / IM are just a bunch of nerds. Rads/path too. Peds have gummy bears, not beers. FM is too busy hunting elk to party. EM folks are on a swing shift so they can’t come.
