It's admissions office/dean-dependent, but some (many?) schools are receptive to pre-application counseling. You just have to contact the school and ask.On Reddit, I have seen some applicants mentioning that "an AO from X school told me that..." or that "I met with an AO at X..."
Are they exaggerating, and is it even possible to meet with AOs prior to applying?
I know that schools that participate in EDP often require a meeting with their AOs prior to applying, are these applicants just taking advantage of this requirement and then subsequently not applying ED there? Thanks!
I don't understand why you want to do this, can you explain? It's more common for college to visit schools etc before applying, was that what you did?Thank you for the reply!
I currently am not near any medical schools unfortunately, would an email to admissions be acceptable?
How would I phrase the request? Should I ask for a one-on-one virtual meeting to see if X medical school believes it would be a good idea for me to apply to them?
It is unusual for applicants to request/do this. I would look for advertised public admissions events or medical school fairs and attend those.Thank you for the reply, I may be being somewhat neurotic, but I was hoping to see if some of the schools I'd really like to attend could give me some brief feedback on my application overall and how to best position myself for them.
I saw that UNC Chapel offers 10 minute appointments on Zoom (not sure if this is for everyone or just UNC undergrads though), and I was wondering if other schools offer the same opportunity.
I know that some schools like Weill explicitly state that they do not provide individual advice, but for schools that do not state that, would it be worth reaching out or am I overthinking it?
Just ask of they ever do one-on-one meetings with potential applicants. The goal is for someone inside an admissions office to look at your qualifications (EAM = experiences, attributes, metrics) and give feedback on where you stand. The worst thing that happens is they say no.Thank you for the reply!
