I’m confused how would a pgy2 moonlight out of state? You’re in residency right? I don’t really know how you’d have much time to moonlight pgy2 or 3, pgy4 is much lighter you’ll have time then. Also as a pgy2 you’ve never done outpatient how would you moonlight outpatient having never done it before? I’d recommend focusing on being a good resident and learning to be a psychiatrist before jumping to practicing independently so soon.

Hey! Yeah my residency happens to be no weekend, no calls, no night shifts, and we are encouraged to moonlight, even as soon as PGY2. Also if it was out of state it would either have to be 1) tele or 2) weekends only (with travel reimbursment). Our residency has outpatient rotations also starting PGY2. And yes I agree with that last line, hence why I'm only available on the weekends since I've got M-F to focus on my residency.

But you can’t moonlight via telehealth out of state if you don’t have an out of state license…

Oh I didn't know that! I thought you could. I know of a few californian residents not in my program who were able to moonlight outside the state I'm sure

Well they either got an OOS license, or were doing it illegally (seems highly unlikely), or they were doing a federal job (you can use any state license for the VA, IHS, ICE or BOP)
