I was confused about this too. Unfortunately, medical schools are not allowed to accept students off the waitlist that have already committed to enroll elsewhere. The school will see that you have already committed to enroll elsewhere and won’t even be able to tell you that they were going to take you off the waitlist. Once you commit to enroll, you forfeit getting accepted off other waitlists.

No. You plan to enroll until the commit deadline. You should only switch once the other school gives you an offer. Once you commit, then you honorably attend the school.

That said, I'm sure last minute drops happen.
