Can you explain why more interview slots tend to open up after people get offers? Isn't the rate at which applicants usually accept/decline acceptances baked into the cake of the number of interviews given? I also can't imagine many applicants turning down an offer of acceptance this early in the game. Just curious. Thanks.Interviews continue until March. More slots open up after people get offers. Congratulations. Understand most applicants get only 1 interview.

I often use the "marathon" metaphor when it comes to the timeline from preparing your application to stepping on-campus as a newly enrolled student, butwww.studentdoctor.net
They mean that once people get an A, they may cancel interviews at schools that they like less than the place they already got the A. While schools may know they need to interview x number candidates to fill Y spots, and they also probably know some number of people who schedule interviews are likely to cancel later, they can’t schedule more interviews than they actually have interview slots for. So at a certain point when the spots get filled they can’t offer more interviews until someone cancelsCan you explain why more interview slots tend to open up after people get offers? You might get an II tomorrow, or in march, or no more.So worried because the traditional advice here is that interviews are offered to high stat applicants first. but i am high stats (3.95+, 523). I only have 2 IIs from AMCAS schools. One is to a T10 and the other to a T50. I was so hopeful to be in the first wave of interviews at those two schools... but since then, it has been silence for over a month. Fortunately, I do have IIs to a bunch of TMDSAS schools, but I was hoping to get a little more love from AMCAS. (side note - why so much love from TMDSAS, and so little from AMCAS? i applied using very similar essays.)
Is this it for IIs? Or can I reasonably remain hopeful for more IIs? Also, do you think it's possible there is a red flag in my writing or LORs, if I received IIs but not very many of them?

It seems like there's no one universal strategy when it comes to sorting applications—the process is so school-dependent that generalizations should be taken with a grain of salt. Many of the first schools I applied to haven't gotten back to me, whereas a T10 sent me an II under 2 weeks after completion and another school sent me an II in the same week I was complete.Hey Goro thanks for the feedback. I'm sorry I came off that way. I have no intention of sounding entitled, and I most certainly don't believe I'm special... I'm just fearful everytime I see the advice "high stat interviews come first" because each time I see it, my hope and aspirations dim a little more.
Both of you got early interviews so consider this a success and keep reading up on the schools for each upcoming interview to prepare. Sounds like a successful cycle for you both and I hope you post where you’re acceptedIn same boat. International applicant with 4 II all came In august. radio silence for 5 weeks. Crossing my fingers!
Also depends on your ECs and type of schools you applied for (research vs service). My n=1 CA ORM with higher stats than you had 50% success with IIs (3 cycles back, only applied to T25) and I attribute that to heavy research focuse and not high service hours even strong experiences. So worried because the traditional advice here is that interviews are offered to high stat applicants first. but i am high stats (3.95+, 523). You should send update only when paper is approved.thank! I have pretty strong research too but my biggest regret is not focusing much on it on my application (I was worried adcom would think I'm more suited for a PhD). I downplayed my research a lot on my application lol i regret it. I have a first author paper is in revision with a journal with IF ~50, we made it past 1st round of peer review, and the editor correspondance has been very promising, do you think that's worth an update?
