The Latino community prefers Latino over Latinx. That’s why I decided to use it.Revising an answer to a diversity prompt, and I'm discussing the contribution of my identity as a Latino to my motivation for medicine.
I include a phrase that's like "... among the Latino community ...". Should I replace this with Latinx? I can't believe I'm even asking this, but I'm wondering if some admissions office out there is gonna be offended that I use a gendered word instead of "Latinx". Or should I avoid this issue altogether and just use Hispanic (which doesn't mean the same thing, especially when thinking about access to healthcare)?
