That was what I feared, but do I still stand a chance at the T20 schools with a subsection score of 125? I do feel like I have a decent explanation for the discrepancy, but nonetheless I don't want my application tossed in the garbage bin without being read because of my score.
With a 519: As long as you have a great GPA, solid extracurriculars and great writing/LORs I think you stand a chance. Given how well you scored on the other sections I think a retake is not only useless but needlessly risky, especially if your CARS score stays the same and your other scores go down (which given that you have 2 perfect section scores, would be likely).

There seems to be some idea floating around the internet that 125 on CARS is a low score. It is not, it only looks low to you because your other sub scores are higher.
Especially for students whose first language was not English, the CARS score is given some leeway.
Be proud of that excellent 519 and never look back.

They could also toss your application in a garbage bin because retaking a 96th percentile score hints at poor judgement and/or an undesirable personality trait called maladaptive perfectionism. Sorry, but you're stuck with this single awesome MCAT.

I took the MCAT this summer and got a 519 (132/125/130/132). While I am proud of my score, I am quite disappointment in my 125. CARS has always been my most difficult section, in part because English is my third language and I was raised abroad. Some people have told me that I will need to retake if I am interested in T20 programs, but what is the consensus on this? Should I retake?
If English is your third language and you scored 125 on CARS, you should congratulate yourself. A retake is silly. Your score may decline. Stop worrying about top 20 this and that. That's just mindless elitism. Stand pat on a 519.

CARS gets the most slack of the categories.
