Only the TD of your post doc will likely be able to answer definitively though FWIW, the institutions (AMCs/R1s) that I have been apart/am aware of have been very supportive of visa issues and do work with international students.

Thank you! I'm worried that I will be viewed as a burden before even starting my fellowship but you're right that only my TD can provide a firm answer.
