$193.40...how is this arbitrarily determined?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS:
* Competitive hourly rate of $193.40 (board certified)

So how do they arrive at this oddly specific number? Why isn't it an even 195/hr or just 190/hr? Is that extra $3.40 going to really get someone to sign?
Because $193.40 is better than $193.30

$193.4 per hr, plus bonus of up to 10% base rate, $50 per hr extra for evening and night shift dif, $25k sign on, relocation included, and full benefits for likely W2 job.

The base rate ain’t bad with all that.

Unless you are doing nights, that's a bad rate almost anywhere. $25K sign on is nothing, just $17/hour. So we are at $210/hour for a day shift, $260/night.

Likely $25,000 for 2 year sign.

193.4 base
19.34 yearly bonus
8.68 sign on

221.42 day shift, 271.42 evening and night

Average per hr is $254.75
Add 10-20% because of W2 benefits

280.22-305.7 per hour

But this is how I would look at the job.

~$403k-~$440k per year for 120 hrs per month, that part of the country is beautiful however there is not much out there and it is pretty remote.

It is almost certainly based on some sort of data; either the Xth percentile of regional EM salary as determined by their consultant, or it is X% of the actual hourly income of their physicians last year.

Wait, wtf?

You just turned 280k into 440k...

I guess that's recruiter math.

That's pretty close to the president's salary. If you take this job, do you only have to pay $750 in income taxes too? 🤣

I guess it depends on your definition of remote. But Grants Pass is an absolute s***hole of a town, and Medford and K Falls aren't any better.

But COL is pretty low, and when it's not AZ hot or on fire, it's kind of pretty.

That's not too bad for working in a city. But terrible if you're working out in BFE.

I pretty much did the math for you. Maybe you need me to do it in common core method?

still seems like a horrible deal given its location
