REAL real nontrads were born when JFK was president.🙂

Sheesh, I thought I had it rough because I remembered when cars didn't have a third brake light!

(And suitcases had those annoying little wheels. We put a man on the moon and it takes 1000 years for someone to put roller blades wheels on a suitcase??? What's up with that???)

Look on the bright side, along with the faculty, we'll be the only ones who remember Drs. Hawkeye Pierce and BJ Honicutt...

And I thought I was cool cuz I went to the original release of Star Wars at the movie theaters.

1966? DAmn. What did you think of Gemini 12? Lovell and Aldrin really kicked ass didn't they?

I was 5 months old. Pre-verbal. We'll never know what I thought.

Well, at least you have come full circle. IBM stock was like 30 cents a share in '66, and today it is right back there!

Seriously, I loved M*A*S*H! I can still quote dialogue verbatim. (Wish I could remember my med school text that easilly.

Dude me too. I was 11 and it was the first non-Disney movie I was allowed to see.

I know! I worry! I can do all of Stripes! I can tell you which celebrity sang which song on the Muppet Show! I can remember (and correctly pronounce) the unbelievably awesome name of the prime minister of Turkmenistan! But I can't remember TCA to save my life.

Then you haven't learned my secret: outrageous mnemonics. You should check out www.medicalmnemonics.com, which is a treasure trove of these things. It isn't well organized, so it can be hard to find what you want, but if you browse it you'll come across some real gems. (Warning for the uninitiated: about 99% of medical student mnemonics involve sex, and about 20% seem to include the word "Viagra.")

This was my favorite for remembering the intermediates of the Krebs cycle: "Can I Keep Selling Sex For Money, Officer?" (Citrate, Isocitrate, alpha-Ketoglutarate, Succinyl CoA, Succinate, Fumarate, Maleate, Oxaloacetate.)

Now if I could only figure out how to have a SHORT-term memory, I'd be unstoppable ...

...outrageous mnemonics...

Yeah I need to get on that bandwagon. I'm thinking mnemonics plus teaching plus being able to draw everything from scratch plus some interpretive dance, then I'll be okay.

And I was starting to feel crazy for venturing into this at 36...i feel much better now🙂
