Hi everyone,

I have an upcomming interview at UIC on Jan 9. It's my first one and I have to admit I'm a little scared. What in the world do you tell them when they start off with "tell me about yourself?" And what do you ask them when the finaly say "ok, do you have any questions for us?"

I feel confortable about my application, I know it well, I don't have a problem taling with people but it a fear of unknown. You know what I'm taliking about.

Did anyone interview at UIC yet? They got me confused. First they said they are NOT on rolling admission anymore. Letter that I got from them stated that they interview everyone during two weeks period in February. Right after that I got a call from them saking me if I'm available during the week of Jan 6!!! How strange! I'm a lucky one or they are in fact on rolling admissions?

If you know anything please let me know. Anything would be a great help.

Thanks in advance,
srdentist

Based on my experience, when they asked me the question "tell me about yourself," I usually start by telling them my background, what I studied at school, my hobbies, and just a little bit about how I got to the place I am today.

As for the question "do you have any questions for us?" You can ask stuff like: 1). How did you decide on a career in dentistry? If they specialize, why they decided to specialize. 2). What is it about UIC that sets it apart from other school, what is the school known for? 3). How does the school prepare its student for the board? 4). What is the passing rate for the board? 5). Are there any research opportunity if you want to do research? 6). Do they have any specialty program? 7). Where do the students live mostly? on campus or off campus?

Basically, make it so that it seems like you are interviewing them. Ask them questions about what you want to know specifically about the school.

I hope that helps. Good luck.

Be relaxed. Be yourself. Forget about preparing other than being honest. Why you want to go to the school also your application information. Obviously, you paid money to apply to the school, they already know you are interested.
Tell me about yourself. Start simple, they know your name and etc. Are you married, intersting hobbies, etc. sell yourself. Keep talking unitl they ask questions. That will make things smooth.

Ask Questions about something you are concerned about. Technology, professor/student ratio, academic program, community dedication, research, etc.

Sorry I don't really know anythjing abouty UIC, just general interview hints.
