Hey guys i was just wondering what kind of classes you recommend for test prep. I took the mcat last year but i have decided to switch to dentistry 😉. Do you guys think i really need a prep class or could i study on my own for the DAT? i know its more of a quesiton that only I can asnwer but i was just wondering based on your experiences, how much help did a prep class such as kaplan provide?

i thought kaplan laid a good basic foundation of everything. but yea it is a question that only you can answer as we have no clue if u feel u already know all the basics and stuff...if u have the will to study on ur own then save the $$ and just buy the bluebook, along with destroyer, ahciever, topscore, cdp, and u're set.

yeah, this really all depends on you. i was taking an mcat class and halfway through, i decided to switch to dentistry...huge waste of money. i really didn't want to spend another fortune on classes again so i decided to buy topscore, acheiver, kaplan blue book, and destroyer and i devoted my summer to studying. turned out fine for me. also wikipedia was a huge resource for me.

i haven't heard good things from people who have taken the course, but i guess shelling out big bucks for a class can really motivate one to work hard and get the most out of their money.

Don't take the class, its a waste of time/ money. The only good thing you'll get will be their online materials, and you can get most of them from craigslist. I also did the mcat and took a class. I did well, but not because of the class. When you take the class you spend the time sitting there and listening to someone explains something that you can understand by yourself. So yeah, if you have princeton review use that as a basis for everything except bio. If not get a kaplan book and supplement it with cliff destroyer, and topscore.
