I was wondering how dental schools would view a 1 yr course based Masters instead of a 2 yr thesis based masters?

I do the 2yr M.Sc., I would have to wait 2 yrs to get my graduate gpa if

Would they care if I am purely taking courses in the 1yr M.Sc. ?

I don't think it matters. I'm in a 1 year course based masters at the moment but I was accepted based on my grades in undergrad. Still, no research oriented school took any interest in me so maybe it depends on where you want to go....

The weird thing is that once I am doing my 1yr of Course-based MSc I still wont have my grad marks until I complete the degree. So in any case I would have to apply once I am done my 1 yr of grad school so technically it would be best to apply 2 yrs from now since I am finishing my 4th yr or ugrad....

I mean is there any way around this...do applicant always end up wasting a yr!!

If you are getting your masters to improve your GPA then yes, hold off on applying until that May/June you finish the one year program.

For any other reason, or if you do the 2 year gig, then apply the year before you graduate. This way there will be no gap year.
