2.3 sGPA, 3.0 cGPA. Can a high 2nd degree GPA make up for it?

I can complete my BS in Biology this summer, but I am wondering if I should continue taking classes and raising my GPA (3.0 cgpa, 2.9sgpa) so that I can be a more competitive applicant for medical school. Are two semesters of good grades taking a full load of science classes enough to redeem my poor GPA from my first degree? My sGPA and cGPA will be in range for some of the DO schools that I want to apply to, but I'm concerned that the D's and F I made before will be viewed much differently than someone who got the same GPA making mostly C's. Should I apply to SMPs instead/also?

Btw, I plan on taking the MCAT this summer.

I also want to mention that I've dedicated significant time to shadowing DO's and MD's, leadership positions, teaching & tutoring, medical volunteer work, and non-medical volunteer work.

A second degree isn't necessary. First, repeat all F/D/C courses and ace them. Then do a post-bac (either formal or DIY) or a SMP and ace it, and ace the MCAT. There are schools that reward revinvention.

DO programs will use AACOMAS grade replacement policy, so that path is easier.
