Hey guys,

So I ran into a problem with my AMCAS application service, and was wondering if anyone could help me out and/or had a similar experience.

I registered for the mcats around a month back under a certain AAMC ID associated with my username and password connected to my gmail account.

Yesterday, I started to fill out the amcas primary application with this username and password and it told me that I have another AAMC ID registered into the system, and that I should use the username and password associated with that AAMC ID to fill out my application. In other words, I have two different AAMC ID accounts, and the MCAT AAMC ID does not match the AAMC Id on my application.

I contacted MCAT services regarding this, and according to them I can go ahead and fill out the application with the non mcat AAMC ID, and once i am done with the mcats in july 6, they will automatically replace the AAMC id on my application withe the MCAT ID.

I was looking up the mcat essentials page, and it stated that having two ID's is considered in a sense "illegal". Hence, I was wondering if someone had a similar experience to this, and whether I should just go with the word of the MCAT people.

Let me know. Thanks

Calll AMCAS regarding this issue, or just make an AMCAS account with your MCAT based number, so they can "tie" the scores and application together. Basically go with what was issued first.

hey everyone,

I did Call AMCAS and the MCAT services both of them told me nothing can be merged until I take the MCAT once I am doine taking the mcats on july 6 i call them back and they will replace my application AAMC ID with my MCAT AAMC ID. I hope it works i was just stressed about the clause on the mcat essentials that said something about having multiples IDs.

That would be having multiple IDs on purpose for reasons of hiding scores or false identity.

You have reported it to them, and they told you what they're going to do to fix it. You should be fine. If they gave you a problem ticket # when you called you could write that down to keep evidence that you called, but I don't think you really need to do that.

Once all is said and done I suggest you contact them again to find out which ID is your permanent AAMC ID and make sure the duplicate is deleted. You will use it throughout medical school and for residency applications.

I had this problem. It took AMCAS about a week to fix it. Call them up and tell them the situation. They will ask under what ID you have a MCAT and use that one. They will merge the IDs and problem solved. The only thing is you won't be able to submit, register for MCAT, or anything AMCAS related until the problem is fixed.

Hey manthan1490,

Did you end up getting the issue fixed? I encountered a similar situation and I'm freaking out a little.
Let me know what your experience of the aftermath was.

Thanks 🙂

Same here. I also have not taken the MCAT but I am registered for June 21. My MCAT and AMCAS application are on the same account but the one I made when I thought I had lost access to this main one a while back is still there. I never used it for anything though. Did either of you run into trouble on test day? That would be the worst ha.

Same here! Taking the MCAT in three days and just realized I have two accounts (one registered for the MCAT and one when I bought the MSAR). I reported it online, but just want to make sure there won't be any trouble on test day.
