So i'm trying with every fiber of my being to relax while reviewing some major points. Tomorrow, Monday, Sept 14, I'm going to relax, not think about much and enjoy the day. Everyone says that its shouldn't be looked at as "the calm before the storm" but rather a mental preparation for "pwnage". HAHA.
Well, here's what I've done up till now.
CDP TESTS (1 hour each) -
1___2___3___4___5___6___7___8___9___10
[21]_[22]_[21]_[19]_[23]_[22]_[22]_[23]_[23]_[26]
*Test 4 was kind of a punch to the gut. I typically don't score below 20 on PAT, it was a combination of late night, seemingly insane hole punching, angles (which I just DGAFed), and just spent more time on the pattern folding section. An hour later, I was determined to do justice and took test 5. Will take Tests 7-9 Today; Will save 6 & 10 for tomorrow.
For Achiever, DAMN this thing, I refuse to take any other of the sections but the sciences which were really good information. I attempted the PAT, but I was turned off by quality of pictures (ie. jaggies on lines)
Achiever 1
Bio / GC / OC / TS
16 / 19 / 17 / 17
Achiever 2
Bio / GC / OC / TS
17 / 16 / 14
! / 16
Achiever 3
Bio / GC / OC / TS
16 / 18 / 21 / 18
For Topscore, I wiped these scores recently and retook them. I was averaging 18-20 on my first round through. This is take 2 after studying and rehashing the informing and committing the bigger pictures with accompanying details to memory (that is for the sciences).
Topscore 1
Bio / GC / OC / PAT / RC / QR
21 / 21 / 23 / 22 / 21 / 20
Topscore 2
Bio / GC / OC / PAT / RC / QR
20 / 20 / 25 / 21 / 20 / 21
Topscore 3
Bio / GC / OC / PAT / RC / QR
23 / 21 / 28 / 20 / 21 / 22
These scores are a little more solid and more of what I want to see on my DAT, but it could have to do with recognizing repeat questions which doesn't help me much.
Bio: I have done 50% of Cliffs AP Flashcards (1000 cards. And I tend to have a short attention span... better if I throw these cards and make a mini Bio snowstorm of information and run through it and hope I learn it. HAHA) Cliffs AP bio is excellent, I've gone through it at least 3x and I just got done skimming it. I also used Kaplan BB, very generally. I thought it had useful mnemonics. I also appreciated the Destroyer Bio's depth. Schaums was useful for looking up certain detailed concepts like "counter current exchange / multiplier" or reading the depth of prophase I. However, dense material, let alone pages of dense ink (ie. much black on the page) didn't captivate me. I then supplemented myself with many youtube videos of protein synthesis, DNA replication, gene expression regulation, recombinant DNA (these topics are really useful when you have animations, especially me since I'm a visual learner - essentially these things came to life for me)
Chem: I think is is my weakest science, I choke up on calculations. It stems from deep seated fears and horrible teachers from my G. chem classes. I've got most of the material down and I'm feeling confident about it. I've done Destroyer, Cliff's AP Chem (really in depth) and Chads vids. I couldn't watch more than half because that guy who kept on answering things wrong threw off my momentum and concentration with thoughts of WTF?!
O. Chem: Well, i must say, I was okay at this but with Destroyer, I got real good at it. I even obtained Organic Chemistry Odysey and went through 90% of it and I will say WOW. I went back to destroyer ochem and cleaved and hydrolyzed my way through ochem questions. I then took Acheiver 3 after. I felt pretty good with a 21 after considering my two other sections never ever broke 20. Destroyer roadmaps are great to commit to memory along with oxidating / reducing agents.
RC: IDK? i also DGAF this section. I just employ Search and Destroy, read about halfway / scan and try to make use of my scroll button. I really despise the Kaplan method of writing notes. It takes up PRECIOUS TIME!
PAT: CDP is bomb. I just hate angles and I don't know what to do about it.
Also i seem to have trouble with cube counting, but not too much.
QR: I neglected this the most up till now so i'm gonna hit it up today with some math from the destroyer. The last time I took trig was in high school, about 5-6 years ago. I've done some in calculus and college algebra, but I never really cared nor will I. I'm just gonna play the game.
