The pre-med students one. We have science classes for nursing majors at my school too and generally speaking the schools I am applying to do not accept those. To be on the safe side I would definitely take the "pre-med one ", which most likely is the science major one you need.

i would take the pre med one also...actually let me re phrase that, i AM taking the pre med one at my school. We also have a nursing microbio, but the pre med microbio is the right one for prepharm students. hope that helps =)

Thanks guys!! 🙂

Your best bet is to contact the pharmacy schools that you want to apply to and ask them.

My undergrad school also had a lower division (3 unit) and an upper division (4 unit) microbiology courses. Most of the schools that I talked to said that they would accept either course. Only one said that they would only accept the upper division course. I ended up taking the upper division course anyway.

All schools will accept the upper division/pre-med course, but most would probably also accept the lower division/nursing course. It depends on the specific school.

Nursing-based science courses are easier than the 4 credit science courses. I speak from experience. While schools may accept the nursing-based courses, they're not oblivious to the fact that they're catered to nurses -- typically a population of women in their 30s and 40s who want a successful career, but have not been to school in a very long time. If you feel that you're extremely weak in microbio, it may be beneficial for you to take the 3 credit if it will transfer. But ultimately, I decided to do the 4 credit and be safe -- everywhere, in case I wanted to change my mind about X university later.

I am going to take both medical and general microbiology.

My top choice specifically asked for medical, which is lower division. Everyone else required general (upper division). The med one is probably easier anyway, so I could raise my GPA a little bit.
