People always say apply early in June. However, I see people applying during August and getting into great schools. So, what's the best time to apply to school? I'm thinking from June to early August, but for some reason it feels as if August is late?

Also, since the application opens in June I can complete everything and send in my transcripts and hit submit. So do you have to hit submit for your transcripts to be verified because I don't want to submit my application before it is 100% complete. Also I see people submitting their applications without their DAT scores, what's up with that.

Thanks

If you are trying to find a specific month when all applicants within that particular month will somehow automatically get accepted, then it's probably april, specifically the 1st.
It is really simple. Start an application in june and ONLY hit that submit button when everything is completed. Whether that be in june or August.
-You do have to hit submit for transcript to get verified.
-Because they believe some schools start reviewing their applications even without DAT. Do not know if this's true, but it's a risky move because they might either put you aside and forget about you or they still consider it late by the time that DAT scores are in.

I would submit as soon as you are ready and not before/after. Just be aware that there could be hiccups along the way so it's nice to submit ASAP to give yourself the most time. For instance, after I submitted in mid July, I had to wait about 4 weeks for my GPA to get verified. Instead of getting the "yay your GPA is verified" message, I found out that my undergrad university made a mistake on my transcript and said I never graduated. By the time I got a new one sent to AADSAS and that verified, it was now almost September.

I feel sorry for you lol

So if I apply like July 15th and give time for verification then schools might look at my application around the first week of August I'm assuming? I guess I'll just submit July 1st, and take my DAT early July and hopefully they get processed the same time and sent out together lol. So transcripts take 3-4 weeks and the DAT take about 3-4 weeks as well to process right?

Sending in your transcripts does not start grade verification. Submitting your application starts grade verification. Therefore, send out the transcript request forms ASAP (before you even submit).

The DAT was quick for me - about 2 weeks. I took it middle of July and it was done before August.

They will give you a range for grade verification; I think it was 4-6 weeks last year. Whatever the time frame was, it took them the entire time to contact me about the mistake on my transcript. Then I had to wait a couple of weeks after that for it to get fixed.

Edit: I pulled up my application. I esubmitted July 16th. I got the message about my messed up transcript August 13th (when my grades would have been verified) and it was fixed on August 26th. My application was then mailed to schools on August 28th. I took the DAT on July 13th and it was added to my AADSAS application on July 29th.

Thanks, so I'll send out transcripts before anything else. That might speed up the process a little bit. Also what's up with the first batch second batch third etc.. How do you know what batch you are in? Is it every week or something, and does it even matter as long as you apply before August.

They mail out applications in groups. It really doesn't matter IMO.

Stressing out about how early to get your application in has to be the most pointlessly overthought process of dental school application. The only right answer: get it in as soon as you can and don't rush it. There's no magic batch of applicants or special date, just get it done. Every school is different. There's countless posts on these boards about how there's nothing special about 1st batch etc.
