So 2 questions for you all. 1-How many interviews did you all end up getting?
2. Is it common/etiquette to send thank you letters are interviews, and if so, should they be handwritten or emails?

I hope u don't go around asking question 1 at interviews........

1.) 94 interviews (this is just an estimate, since I apply this year)
2.) Rather than send a letter, it's really best to punch the PD in the throat at the end of the interview. This is a unique touch that they won't soon forget.

I don't care to talk about #s but I have been sending emails to the PD and chair (if I met them) after the interview to thank them for the interview. I've rarely sent another email to a faculty member who I connected with.

I have emailed residents who offered their contact info if I have any questions after the interview, but not often.

I have seen many hand-written thank you notes, distributed through the interview coordinator being distributed to all faculty interviewers. Congrats to whoever has been keeping up with all of those, I bet it is quite a project!

1) >10. I think what's important is that I like (and in some cases, love) all of these programs, so thankfully I'm not going to be disappointed on match day (unless I don't match...but I'm blocking this outcome from my mind!).

2) I've been sending hand-written notes, sometimes to all my interviewers, but always to the PD and chair. They gave you a few hours of their day, so why not spend a few minutes and write a nice note? Nothing wrong with sending a message of appreciation, email or hand-written. If you have crappy handwriting, I'd suggest sending email.
