Figured some people may find this informative....or not. I haven't posted my two questions as the answers can stand alone. Just note the second answer pertains to VR. I didn't ask for all subjects if this was true. Maybe someone can chime in on that.

"Thank you for contacting the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) program.

The AAMC does not have a policy against writing on scrap paper during the tutorial. You will only have the 10 minutes for the tutorial and must start your exam when the allotted time has expired.

Sets of passages will be presented in random order in relation to their degree of difficulty. The questions within each passage set will be presented from the easiest to the hardest.

Please let us know if you need any additional assistance.
Warm Regards,
The MCAT Resource Center Staff
Association of American Medical Colleges 2450 N St., NW Washington, DC 20037 U.S.A. "

I can now spend a few more seconds on the last questions of passages without feel bad as I now know they are harder (always suspected). Not sure if prep companies organize their passages this way though.

b/c it appears some proctors don't know the rules.
All you can do is email the AAMC and take that email to the exam but I doubt it helps.

I will just use the first minute or two of the actual exam if i have to....and then have some words with the proctor and AAMC if that happened to me.

I just want things to be consistent.........not alot to ask for for 300 bucks (I'm Canadian dammit).

Anyway to me I cared more about the verbal answer. Might not be a good call for everyone but I know I'll take a hard look at the last couple of questions of each passage.

Yeah thanks for sharing with us. Why can't proctors do their goddamn job and know the rules? This is a pretty important test to us.

I'm going to call my testing center and verify it with them. That way I have a chance to get it straightened out in advance.

Could be the AAMC's fault for not issuing crystal clear guidelines. Whatever the case hopefully this information somehow helps. Perhaps call in advance or whatever. I'll just be prepared either way.

lol, I called my test center to ask if they allow people to write on their scrap paper during the tutorial and was told that they are not allowed to give me such information, and that I will be told the rules before I take my test. Wtf? lol, gotta love the prometric people
