once you get into the 22, 23, + DAT scores how much power does that give your application when it goes to the review committee?

I just want SDNers opinion. Obviously nobody knows for sure (unless you are an ADCOM! :meanie: ).

This is just an opinion -- not going to even pretend that I know what I'm talking about.

I think the high DAT score will help you get an interview, but once invited for an interview, a 24 AA isn't going to overcome poor interpersonal skills, arrogance, or a crappy interview.

that depends on the school too. Some schools seem to not put that much weight into the interview . . . as if it is just a formality--a chance for you to see the school rather than the ADCOM evaluating you.

I agree 100%.

Actually, I had one friend that had a 23 and at each of his interviews he got asked whether he took a prep course for the dat and he told them he took kaplan and they werent amused.

So are we supposed to lie about that?

I am not in that situation but I dont think there is that much difference when your AA is above a 21. Anything in the 20's is excellent and is most likely going to get you in anywhere so if you score even higher say 23 its still just excellent. I think ADCOMS know that a AA 21 or a AA 23 is only a difference in the number of right answers by about 5-7 questions maybe less. THis is why I dont know if I should retake my dat just to raise my AA of 18 to 19,or 20 which is only like 4 questions.

I dont know if I would retake if I were you. Your gpa is high. If your app is first class everywhere else and you dont have a favorite school then apply to a wide range and enjoy. (IMO).
😎

Thanks for the encouragment natroncb I really dont want to retake it. I have submitted my aadsas on June 4 but my printout has not been mailed out yet. My aadsas gpa's have been calculated for a couple weeks now. If you were in my position what schools would you apply to. I personally dont care as long as I get in somewhere.

Be fortunate you're not me 🙁 ... I'm almost positive an applicant with your stats will get in without a doubt. Best of luck! 👍 👍

Dude your DAT scores are awsome. Your Sci Gpa could use some work though. What schools are you applying to and which ones are on the top of your list.

tiny,

your GPA's are excellent, depending on where you went to school. I'm fairly confident you'd get in somewhere with your stats, what are you doing that is so important now that you can't study for and retake the DAT? If I had to go to a private school instead of my state's lone public school because my DAT wasn't very competitive, I would regret not retaking as it would be a very costly decision. Just my opinion, it may not matter to you.

natron,

What it could do is give you something to retort with if you have any blemishes on your transcript that they want to grill you on. I would agree with what the others are saying that having a 20 vs a 22 isn't going to help you very much.

I'd say you'd be interviewed and your application would be discussed by the committee.
