Based on the most recent AACOMAS update (dated 5/3/05), applicants increased 12.07% from 7,629 in 2004 to 8,596 in 2005.

So considering 3,500 seats available and 8,596 applications in 2005, equates to approximately 2.46 applicants per seat. Also, this estimate is conservative since most individuals apply to several programs.

dah, i almost misread what you wrote. that is 8596 applicants(people) not applications. wow, whats the ave amount of applications(paper) 5.96? so

(8596*5.96) / 3500 = 14.63 applications fighting for each seat on average!

and about 3.45 average gpa
