EDIT: The preface is there in case people want to know where I got this test. Last week I was in a bit of a panic since I couldn't get the test in time if I ordered from ADA and the online version is useless since it doesn't let you check your mistakes or even look at the test a second time.

I was lucky enough to procure a 2009 ADA test from a member on SDN and I did it last week on Tuesday. I just checked where I made mistakes today since my test is on Monday and I saw some terrible mistakes in the sciences. I never checked since I felt my scores were decent...but boy that was stupid!

Scores on Sciences not adjusting for ADA's mistakes:

Bio / GC / OC - 21/22/19

Adjusted for mistakes:

Bio/ GC /OC - 22/22/22

Did I just get like a bad version of the test? Am I just ******ed and losing my mind? Or are these just terrible mistakes that the ADA should be ashamed of?

Bio Question 1:

My Answer: A Correct Answer: C

Plasma Cells are matured B cells (or at least in some way related to B-lymphocytes). They are the mass producers of antibodies. Cytotoxic T-Cells have NOTHING to do with humoral immunity, in fact T-Cells in general have nothing to do with humoral immunity.

Bio Question 2:

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/687/bio2y.jpg/

My answer: C, Correct Answer E

A is wrong because Lowering Eact doesn't address the negative delta S issue. B is nonsense. E is nonsense because Energy cannot be created and destroyed. D doesn't address the issue either. C is the only one that takes the non-spontaneous nature of lowering delta S of a system and couples it with an external energy source.

OChem Question 1:

My Answer: C Correct Answer: B

I altered the image so pardon the transgression. The question basically asks how many types of Hs are there in naphthalene. I color-coded them. Since this is mono bromination, all identical H's count as 1 possible site.

Ochem Question 2:

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/59/ochem2.jpg/

My Answer: A, Correct Answer: D

Maybe the C7H12 was a typo in the question, but clearly the product shown is a ketone on end and and aldehyde on the other. Ozonolysis breaks the C=C and makes two C=O. The only answer choice capable of making an aldehyde and ketone is A Since breaking the C=C in all the other choices makes either 2 Aldehydes or 2 Ketones or more than 2 C=O groups

OChem Question 3:

My Answer: A, Correct Answer: D

These molecules have the same chemical formula (you don't have to count, just go off degree of unsaturation since one has a Double bond and a ring and the other one has two rings). Molecule 2 can only be made from 1 if I broke a couple bonds and made them elsewhere. This is the definition of Constitutional Isomers.

hmmm...I just checked my written sample test (ADA 2009) and it has different questions. For example, the first bio question is about fungi processes. I got this months ago...I wonder if they revised the paid written test recently?

ushaseos - PM me if you'd like to compare my version and your version, we can do a quick voice chat on skype.

I can if you'd like but I just finished the DAT and am pretty sure I won't take it again. I actually did the OAT test and that one had a bunch of typos too, looks like ADA loves to churn out crappy practice tests.
