I would like a little advice if you don't mind. After several years break from getting 2 degrees in college, I am determined to be a dentist.

I will be taking BIO 2 and GEN CHEM 2 the spring of 2010. I then plan to take ORG CHEM 1 during the first summer session of 2010.

Knowing that the application process opens June 3rd 2010, when would be the best time to take the DAT? Are most of you taking it prior to June 3rd, is that the typical process? Is it best to take it prior to June 3rd? I would think it would be best to take it prior to the application opens and get everything in as soon as I can, but I will not have had my ORG CHEM 1 class yet.

Here are a few things that you can consider when replying:

• I am a non-traditional student, over 30
• Overall GPA 3.78, science GPA 4.0
• I have heard I will be ok taking the DAT prior to ORG CHEM 2 (it is as heavily tested as the material in ORG CHEM 1)

Take the DAT early as possible, so if you screw up you can retake.

But more importantly, log into AADSAS and do your application asap. That's what takes a while.

I would take the DAT in April or May, then retake if necessary in July or August. You can submit your application and update your DAT score later. Do not delay submitting your application due to lack of DAT scores.

One of the best bits of advice I can give you is to submity your application on the first day possible.

Yes, the DAT is sent through a separate service. It is independent of the application.
