I didn't see a thread like this, hopefully there isn't one.

I am curious about these five statistics for people applying to SMP Programs:

1. What SMP(s) you got into:

I've just completed my application for Loyola MAMS. Anyone else applying?
 
I have applied to Midwestern Glendale, Robert Wood Johnson, Mississippi College, USF, Colorado State, and IUPUI, I submitted my application about 2 weeks ago I haven't heard back from anyone.

4. None so far
5. tcmc, rfu (will send in my app hopefully on monday), & will apply to toledo smp once its open
 
Accepted to Loyola MAMS today!! This is my back-up plan. I have 2 MD interviews at my state schools and feel the chances are decent that I'll get into one. If not, I'll be here! 🙂

3.94? And you are applying to a SMP?

Dude just get a 30 on your MCAT or go to DO. save yourself $50k

1. I just had my phone interview for midwestern, and they told me there is no reason why I wouldn't get in, and I just got into Mississippi College, yay!!!!!

5. I applied: Midwestern Glendale, Robert Wood Johnson, Mississippi College, USF, Colorado State, and IUPUI
 
1. Barry University yesterday and Mississippi College today!
2. GPA 3.02
3. DAT 19
4. No rejections yet
5. BU Oral Health Sciences Track, Western U, Midwestern U, and Tulane. I might still apply to CSU East Bay.
 
1) TCMC
2) GPA: Around a 3.6
3) MCAT: 24 (retaking in may)
4) Only applied to TCMC

2. My gpa at MDC was a 3.49 and at UF a 2.52, I think my science gpa was around a 2.5
3. My DAT test scores were
PAT17/QR18/RC17/BIO17/GC20/OC16/TS17/AA18
4. Havent got rejected anywhere
5. I applied to PCOM-Ga, MWU-AZ, MWU-IL, Western, Nova, Hampton

😳 oops Im looking for a program in San Francisco/norcal and misread that
 
1) accepted to Barry and Boston University
2) overall 3.1, I don't know my science off the top of my head, but I assume it's a bit lower.
3) MCAT 26R
4) denied from none
5) applied to Barry, Boston, and I think Loyola but I don't think my committee letters ever got there, Boston was my first choice so I didn't bother to sort out that mess.

Umm, were you unsuccessful applying to dental school already? Those numbers are competitive for most schools, last I looked. Not only that, an SMP doesn't seem like it would help much since you already have a solid science GPA.

I applied 14 dental schools this 2011 cycle, but I didn't get any interview invitation yet. Everyone including my school pre-health adviser told me I will get in without a doubt, but I didn't. I don't know why though. I am graduating in May and going to apply the coming 2012 cycle again, but I also want to do SMP just in case I fail again. I know it is risky but it will be better for me because I don't know why I didn't get in this cycle. Without knowing the reason, doing nothing for a year will be a terrible waiting for me.🙁

If everything you have said is true, then an SMP won't help. The hole in your application is elsewhere, maybe one or more of the following:
1) no clinical experience
2) no shadowing
3) no research
4) no ECs of any kind
5) crappy LORs
6) Late application

That being said, I don't know squat about the DAT so i've no idea if your score is good or not. So that too could be an issue
 
You need to call a few schools and find out about your app. I'm thinking you might have some severe spelling mistakes in your personal statement or one of your LOR's said you were a murderer.

As stated previously, an SMP will not help you. If you have taken most, or all of your science pre req courses and maintained a 3.96, you've proven you can handle d-school curriculum.

Oh, and 20 academic average and 20 total science is good for all the non DAT takers. It is around the 87th percentile.

I am currently deciding between MIDWESTERN and NYU for getting into A dental school..... and advice?

2. What your GPA/Science GPA is: ~3.35 for both
3. What was your DAT/MCAT/PCAT scores: 34
4. What SMP(s) you were denied from so far: Tulane ACP (alternate list)
 
1. What SMP(s) you got into: Univ. of Cincinnati, Univ. of Toledo MSBS, Rosalind Franklin BMS, EVMS (attending)
2. What your GPA/Science GPA is: 3.3/3.2
3. What was your DAT/MCAT/PCAT scores: 35
4. What SMP(s) you were denied from so far: none

If I could go back in time, I'd have applied earlier (than May) just to avoid all the stress and anxiety of being rejected and not having anything to do during a gap year.
