So I just took the DAT a couple of weeks ago. I was pleasantly surprised with my scores!
PAT 19
QR 18
RC 24
Bio 22
OC 27
GC 24
TS 24
AA 23
Here is what I did to study. I don't think it is a good idea to spend multiple months studying, at least for me. I knew that I would forget half of the stuff I had studied at the beginning if I studied for over two months. I studied for 3 weeks Monday-Friday 7 hours a day and Saturdays 4 hours a day.
Chad's videos are what I used for Ochem and Gen Chem. I felt super prepared on the real DAT for these sections. Take all of his quizzes right after you watch a section, then take them all again during your last couple of days of studying.
I used Crack the DAT PAT for the PAT section. As you can see I did decent on PAT but not the greatest. I would say that the questions on the real DAT were very similar to this program, I just didn't have that much time to study that much for this section.
For QR I watched Chad's videos, but I also did not do as well on this section. I was a little rushed for time during the DAT and it hurt my score. Definitely should have supplemented QR with MATH Destroyer to have done better.
Bio I prepared with a USED Kaplan Blue Book. I supplemented a little with 3rd Edition Cliffs AP Biology. I made note cards of every single thing I didn't know from reading the KBB and memorized them. On the real DAT I ran into some questions on material I knew nothing about. (I think that happens no matter how well you prepare in Bio.)
I used TopScore Pro and took their tests, 2007 and 2009 ADA tests. 2009 is far and away the most representative of my actual scores.
To wrap things up, you don't need to buy all these fancy materials or programs to do well on the DAT, or spend all summer studying. I wish I had another week to brush up on PAT and QR but for three weeks of study it wasn't too bad. Thanks for all the advice I got from SDN, hope something I said helps.
