I am trying to apply broadly, and am applying both MD and MD-PhD. I want to do some early triaging so I'm not wasting too much money on primaries without being able to get through secondaries...

Thanks in advance.

Look at your areas of interest, and examine this resource: http://www.brimr.org/NIH_Awards/2015/NIH_Awards_2015.htm

Those rankings are a little tricky because those don't take into account affiliates. Harvard for example looks like a bottom tier school according to this because they don't report Man's Best (Greatest) Hospital, the House of God, Mount Misery, etc etc etc. USNews does a pretty good job of adding up the affiliates, but they don't break it down by specialty.
