Does anyone know when the prompt for the upcoming application cycle essay gets revealed? Is it just when the application itself opens up? Also, does anyone have any advice or strategies for how to prepare in this last month leading up to the application, either for the essay specifically or the PTCAS as a whole?

The big things that I wish I would have done, if you haven’t already, is making sure to reach out to those that are going to be writing your letters so that they know they will be getting a request once the application opens. It may also be beneficial to lay out all of the experiences that you plan to include on your app, how many hours you’ve spent in them, your explanations for each of them, etc. This may all be common knowledge that people already do... but I was pretty unprepared going into the app cycle and then ended up applying ED so I was very pressed for time. Also, if you know where you’re going to apply, you can start working on any school specific essays so that those are already completed by the time the apps open. Just some things I wish I would’ve thought of before last year... would’ve saved me a ton of stress! Whatever you decide to do, good luck this cycle!

Also.. I’m not sure on the prompt for this year. Wish I could help you with that..

Hi there, you said there will be some schools that might require suplimental essays. I’m applying to a larg number of schools. Would you know how one can find out if suplimental essays required from the program, other than contacting them directly?

Thanks so much in advance

Hi! From what I found, the majority have schools have supplemental essays. I wrote upwards of 30 essays last cycle of varying lengths and I only applied to 8 schools. Some schools have their prompts on their websites, others you could try contacting the program directly, or many you will just have to wait for the app to open.

Thanks for that. Will do. Hope you’ve got into your desired school.

To my knowledge, the PTCAS general essay prompt should be the same as it was for the 2018-2019 application cycle. They usually keep the same essay for two years.
