Give it to me straight lol. Will this cycle actually be more competitive? To make it actually makes way more sense that it would be less competitive. These statistics people keep throwing around about AMCAS transcripts doubling and more people filling out apps in the first three weeks isn’t very convincing at all because the numbers are being misrepresented in how they’re discusses. That said, I have heard a wide range of very different opinions even among adcoms - there are some like @Goro who believe this cycle will be much more competitive and those like @LizzyM who say it will depend on a great number of things- but I’m curious to hear what everyone thinks and am extra curious to hear what other adcoms like @gyngyn @gonnif and @MrSmile12 think now that the cycle is underway a bit more. I am aware this is neurotic premed to the extreme but I really would like to know what everyone is thinking.

I suspect that the submission of applications has moved to the left on the timeline while verification and review will move to the right meaning a big surge of applications early that may not be sustained thus resulting in a no larger pool than would be expected by historical trends along with a longer than typical application cycle from first interview until last offer.
