Hi there,
I'm finalizing my rank list - I want to end up in NYC, and really liked both NYU and Sinai, trying to figure out which one to put #1. Any thoughts?
They both seem pretty well supported by the administration and have pretty strong rotations (Columbia wins on peds, I know I know). Sinai definitely has a great PD, better moonlighting/scheduling/focus on resident wellness. NYU has a more fun location, better hours (as confirmed by some conversations with current residents), more reliable call schedule, more diverse hospital environments.
My current internal battle is that, given from what I'm reading and have experienced, they're both strong programs and I'll be able to get a good NYC fellowship from either place.
Help?

Which do you like better? Pick that one as your #1. Don't worry about "objective" stuff - worry about overall feel. They're basically the same objectively.

Maybe then you match at #1, maybe #2. Win/win. Done.

Don't overthink it.

Truth. And of the small differences that do exist, you can’t know at this stage which ones are going to be important to you in 3 or 4 years. Much of it is finding the right mentor and the right friends in residency and that is almost purely a matter of luck.

NYU certainly has less suicides among residents of all specialties. But then Adam Levine really goes out of his way to make the residents lives better.

go with your gut man.

NYU administration doesn't give a crap about their residents
