2025-2026 Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
To clarify, I have not received an II. Here is the email they sent me: “
Thank you again for your interest in the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine program and for taking the time to complete the admissions process.

We are writing to inform you of an important update regarding the out-of-state practice commitment contract you previously signed. Based on current enrollment trends and guidance from Legal Affairs, we are pleased to share that this contract will no longer be required or enforced.

Our student body consistently maintains a strong majority of Ohio residents—typically between 92–95%. As long as we remain below the 20% threshold for out-of-state enrollment, the contract you signed will be considered nullified, and no obligation to practice in Ohio for five years post-graduation will be imposed.”
Same, I got the also but no II

IS II. Did anyone have issues confirming the interview slot?

This basically means they are accepting so few OOS students that they can drop the contract requirement.

One of those “good for you…. but bad for you” things.

Interview invite today! For October 14th. OOS, but I graduated from HS in Cleveland

Has anyone who has interviewed yet have a general gist for how the interview day goes? I know it's two interviews but I'm just not sure what to expect.

Hey! Ive been accepted already so here is how it goes. You join the teams meeting, they do introductions for everyone (name, college, what part of Ohio, and a check-in question). Then once everyone goes they do a quick overview and you can Q&A with students. Then 1on1 with physician faculty and 1on1 with PhD faculty. The interview is open-file and very conversational, honestly the best interview experience ive had out of MD/DO schools. Also really important, they give you a decision the next day! I got a call and email about my acceptance around 2 PM the following day!

Hello, I'm an OOS applicant, and I submitted my secondary 6/22 and confirmed 6/24. I dont have strong roots in Ohio but I do have a fiance there and I do plan on staying in Ohio permanently as soon as possible to be with her. I did emphasize this (a lot lol) in my essays and was hoping the adcom would get the hint. I have a 503 Mcat and 3.4 cGPA LM 61. I know ouhcom is heavily IS bias but what do you guys think of my odd? tbh i just want a realistic take on this

Sometimes the OOS apps don't get as thoroughly reviewed and the admissions folks might be overlooking your essays/connection to Ohio. I would highly recommend emailing one of the admissions staff members personally to reiterate your connection.

Got it, its been kinda early in the cycle which is why I’ve been hesitant to email but hearing this I guess I should do it asap. Ty for the help :^)

OOS acceptance to Dublin. Best call of my life haha. Called me three times, on two lines, while I was in the other room, but we got in touch later. Congrats to my fellow future classmates!

It was great. It's introductions between you and the other candidates and the admissions director first. Fun, light, relaxing. Then an overview of the curriculum, followed by a student Q&A panel. If you have questions, immediately raise your virtual hand bc it ended before mine got answered. Then you have a break until your first and second interviews. Those are great--they have the boilerplate questions about your application and experience, motivations, etc but then it's open ended for questions. But both of mine (a PhD and a DO--both professors) were wonderful people, very conversational and easy to chat with. Personable and kind. And if you are one of the lucky ones, you might get a call the next morning!

has anyone heard back anything about the Cleveland campus TCC three year program?

Congrats!

I'll never forget getting the acceptance call. I was visiting my parents who were in the room when my phone rang. Such catharsis, one journey ends and another begins.

Totally! My wife and our two boys were in the room when I got the call. Overjoyed--then toured campus Thursday and since then it's become real and now head is spinning with logistics haha. Are you at Dublin campus as an M-2? Wondering how many students are there with families/kids and if any of them were able to buy a house somehow

Is it too late to fill out a secondary for this school?

How long between y’all sent in your primary and when you got the secondary from them?

Getting nervous about no interview yet, does anyone have any thoughts on how full classes are specifically dublin haha

I went to an event they offered and some students said they got interviewed and accepted as late as march.
Can confirm.

Happened to me. Back then, the interviews around mid-to-late March are for the waitlist spots (which still affords a good chance for getting accepted at HCOM).
