Gotcha. Well good luck! It's a great school! I'm sure some faces have changed since I graduated in 2014. I did really enjoy living in Tulsa for those 4 years and almost moved back there a couple of years ago after separating from the military.

I did HPSP through the Air Force. Completed psychiatry residency 2015-2019 in San Antonio and separated from AF in summer of 2023. Ended up taking a job back in SA. But it pretty much came down to returning to Tulsa or SA because we really enjoyed living there, still have a lot of friends there, and my wife is from NW Ark.

Is putting Tahlequah as my campus of choice risky, if they only accept like 50 students? I am interested in rural healthcare, which is why I want to select the Tahlequah location, but am concerned they won't consider me for Tulsa.

From my talks with the school, students, and independent research, it's a fine choice. They interview everyone together, and your preference may or may not be considered. I mean if you put Tahlequah but they offer you Tulsa, would you turn it down?
If that is the case then it really shouldn't matter.

Just to double down on the reply to this - it’s definitely only a preference they consider, not something that disqualifies you from being eligible for the Tulsa class if they decide not to offer you a spot in Tahlequah.

There are plenty of people in my class from both campuses that put a preference and didn’t get what they want. That being said, I do think you have a better chance of being offered a Tahlequah spot just because not many people know much about Tahlequah vs. Tulsa, so more people tend to preference Tulsa. That was me as well, but I ended up loving Tahlequah’s campus more anyways.

So how is everyone doing today?
Pretty good, working on secondaries for OHSU-COM. Hope you're doing alright too!

Does anyone know how likely it is that Texas residents to receive an out-of-state tuition waiver? I know they have it listed on their website that if you have above a 500 MCAT and 3.5 GPA its possible, but it's unclear how often this happens. I'm just guessing they have a lot of Texas applicants, so I'd imagine they won't be giving out the out-of-state tuition waiver to everyone.

I'm doing swell. As far as tuition waivers, I don't know. However, the admissions office is very responsive, so an email might be helpful.

Has anyone else got an email that your missing required materials in your application? I’m assuming this is about assigning letters of rec since that’s the only thing awaiting on the portal but I submitted them with aacomas?

Yes my friend and I both got that email and in terms of application materials they had received our letter packet but hadn't assigned the letters yet! They said it would take around 3 business days to assign them and just wait and if it still hasn't been resolved to reach out! Hope this helps

OSU only gives out tuition waivers to applicants from certain bordering states, but not Texas. I assume because of the number of medical schools in Texas and the 90/10 rule for residents. They list that they will give scholarships to Texas residents with the stats you listed but tuition waivers only go to Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri.

Incoming 2nd year, not sure if it’s the same technical thing but I did receive a “TX resident scholarship” that covers OOS tuition. As for how likely it is I’m not sure, it seems anecdotally that more got it than not. Again that’s unconfirmed but given the low amount of Texas residents here it wouldn’t be totally surprising.

I got the basic OSU-COM welcome email again this morning. I sent an email to the school and they said they're having some issues with repeat auto emails.
Just be advised folks.

If you guys answered the question about what track you're interested in, approximately how many words did you make your response? Thank you.

Ehh, it was about 100-200 words I think. Just explained how I had a hard time choosing between Rural and Urban Underserved, and why I chose the one I did.

After the BBB passing today, I got quite enraged and was writing my secondary at the time so I realized I put that into the reasoning for picking the track I wanted to wanting to bring systemic rage. Calling our the political involvement harming patient's access to care. Would this be a bad idea?
