I was recently published as a middle author of an approximately 25 author industry research paper in the field of immunology. Will this carry any weight in a competitive residency application, or is it more just a sign of involvement?

Something is better than nothing and will give you an opportunity to talk about something during your interview. But to answer your question, the weight of a middle authorship on a 25 author paper is pretty low.

Definitely list it, but it's not going to hold much weight on its own. Continue to do more research. This will definitely add to your overall count though, and should be included!
