I just took the DAT earlier today, and wouldn’t mind to share my journey : )
Materials used:
My Bootcamp practice scores (test 1-10) :
(for test 7-10, only did GC, OC, and QR section due to time shortage)
Bio: 24, 22, 24, 22, 23, 23, -, -, -, -
GC: 22, 24, 30, 30, 25, 25, 30, 30, 30, 30
OC: 30, 30, 30, 25, 26, 30, 30, 23, 30, 30
PAT: 24, 24, 25, 25, 22, 23, -, -, -, -
RC: 20, 21, 24, 22, 23, 19, -, -, -, -
QR: 30, 30, 30, 24, 30, 20, 22, 30, 30, 24
Materials used:
- Chad’s GC and OG Videos
- DAT Destroyer (except for Bio, didn’t have time to go over it even once)
- OG Odyssey
- Math Destroyer
- Bootcamp (purchased it only twenty days prior my test date)
- Bio (25): I used BC Academy notes and Campbell powerpoints (went over about 30 chapters out of 55 total Campbell chapters). Due to time shortage, I couldn’t even start on Destroyer’s Bio questions. I went over BC Academy notes three times and found them very helpful. Due to the randomness and huge volume of Bio contents, I knew other than studying hard, I have to be lucky to get a good score on this section.
- GC (30) & OG (29): Chad’s, BC, and Destroyer are all you need. On average, the questions of the real exam were way easier than the questions of these three resources. OG Odyssey (written by Destroyer’s author) was also helpful, if you want more practice on organic chemistry.
- PAT (26): BC generators and its practice tests were sufficient. PAT questions on the real exam were easier than BC practice tests.
- RC (23): As you may already notice (from my grammar and way of writing), I am not a native speaker. I came to the U.S. six years ago (during the sophomore year of high school), without having much knowledge of English . I always thought RC is a nightmare that would crash my AA score, but I was surprised at how easy the passages were on the actual exam. At the end, I have nearly 10 minutes to spare. Although my score for this section is the lowest of all my scores, I am indeed very satisfied with it.
- QR (30): Although math is not really my favorite subject, I always saw this section as a booster to my AA score. I am from a country with a lot of math geeks, so the level of math that is tested on DAT was never hard for me. I barely had any Data insufficiency questions on the real exam, but had couple easy Comparison questions.
