That's the school the guy I posted about a couple of days ago got into. That's interesting to me, because I thought they were one of the more selective DO schools.

Cornell engineering is known as one of the tougher schools to get good grades in, grade deflation is pretety rampant, even for an engineering school....so I'm guessing his GPA counterbalanced his very poor MCAT score. Still, you'd think DMU would be worried about letting a guy who has such a poor showing in the sciences in....he wasn't a bio major so it's not like he could prove it was a fluke.....

I think you are confusing Cornell engineering in New York w/ Cornell College. This is a small, private college in Iowa.

Kind of surprising w/ such a horrible MCAT.

My bad. You're right. Ok, never mind then! 😛

Still, engineering is a pretty tough field....maybe Cornell College is known to have a tough engineering environment?

You guys don't actually buy this profile, do you? Just reading it, I honestly get the feel of an individual who is bitter towards DMU, and this is their pathetic attempt to discredit that school. Who with a sub-3.0 gpa and a 17 MCAT, with nothing above 6 would apply to just 1 school?? Does anyone honestly believe this statement... "Thankfully, I had a good interview and plenty of support from faculty and staff at DMU"?? Now why on earth would the faculty and staff be so supportive of a potential applicant with such low numbers. I'm guessing she would've had one of the most difficult interviews, considering how much she'd have to explain in the way of grades and MCAT score.

Can you even explain a 17 on the MCAT (with nothing above 6)? And even if you had some legitimate answer such as illness, wouldn't most faculty members suggest you retake it? Especially with a GPA under 3.0 from this school Cornell College . I'm not trying to offend anyone, but after looking around the website, it's apparent that it's not overly challenging. Hell, their college motto is "One courst at a time".

This is all my opinion, and if I offended anyone/everyone, I'm sorry. I just hope that everyone doesn't automatically believe everything they read without doing their own research, or at least truly stopping to analyze the situation.

Does DMU have in-state preference? I noticed she is an Iowa resident

My stats were way higher than that in every aspect and my application was put on hold until my MCAT rose 4 points.

I declined the interview when they offered it. I had been accepted to 3 other schools at this point.

It is common knowledge that people lie on that site, just like on this one.

DMU does have a 3.0 cutoff for secondaries. Unless this person had some inside connections, they should not have gotten even a secondary.

Cornell College is not a bad college at all, but they do have the One-course-at-a-time curriculum. My cousin who is now a pediatrician went to school there & got accepted to a decent MD school in IL. You would, however, think that a person taking one course at a time could concentrate on that course & do better than B's.

We had a May Term w/ one class & I never got less than an A- while playing golf nearly every day during those terms. I have a hard time believing this profile.

If this profile is real, then by faculty support she probably does mean connections, which would also explain why she applied to only one school.

I had the same exp w/DMU, so I doubt this is real
