biology major and business minor from Ohio State

my state residency is messed up since my father has moved so much... so i'm out of state pretty much everywhere.

i have strong leadership experience, was a bio 101 TA, worked at the hospital doing research, volunteered at an ER for a summer, couple of doctor shadowing experiences, 3 solid letters of rec, and various community service/philanthropy projects through my fraternity. my gpa started off rough and steadily rose throughout the 4 years in undergrad.

i realize my best chance lies with DO schools but i have no idea what a MD school will think since my MCAT and GPA are on the low side. the best thing about my application is the diversity of experiences and showing that i am a well rounded student.

what do ya'll think?

your best bet would be a DO school as you virtually have no viable shot at MD. your chances with DO aren't great either as you didn't start with a way low gpa and spent 2 years getting As. Good luck and if you feel chancy, apply.

I suggest that if you only have 3-4 months of clinical experience that you continue to gain more, as that is well below the average.

As far as the numbers go, you suggest that it was just a bad freshman year that brought down your cGPA. If so, and you've had high grades since, some schools will give greater weight to your most recent coursework, and you could have a chance at MD. What are your year-by-year GPAs?

And if you retook any classes that you did poorly in, your AACOMAS GPAs may be higher due to their grade forgiveness policy.
