I will start my FM residency in Canada this July, but I really want to go to EM one day.
I know that in Canada allows one more year to get FM/EM qualifications, but I really prefer a hardcore training, EM in US is great: 3 yrs, not too long (unlike FRCPC-EM: 5 yrs!!) not too short

so my question is: how tough is it for me to do a 2nd residency in EM in US after I finish my Canadian FM (2 yrs)?

ps: No I will Not consider switch during residency. Thanks

err.. no actually, no one told me what kind of candidate I will be classified into... AMG? IMG? AMG-previous graduates? Re-entry physician???

For purposes of the match, you will be classified as a Independent Candidate. However your classification as an international medical graduate will never change since that refers to the medical school from which you have graduated. Since is not an American school you can never be an AMG.
