When you all got your photos taken, did you have casual clothes on, or did you wear a shirt and tie? I guess my question is what was your appearance in general for this photo?

Hahahaahah. Well, I had this debate with myself a few days ago and I ended up going with shirt and tie. For people like me who are sub-average or average, we are not allowed to make ANY mistakes. We need to be perfect!

I would think either a shirt and tie or just a nice dress shirt would be fine. As long as its not just a t-shirt or something like that it will be fine. Just look professional in some sort of way.

I wore a collared shirt, no tie, and suede chaps; and by suede chaps I mean....well, suede chaps.

I went to motophoto and got 6 for $1.54 and that was w/o a 50% off newspaper coupon that i will save for later. if you are going to be a dentist w/ your own practice, you better know how to do it all on the cheap!

in terms of looking good, i cant say that i am really on top of my game b/c it was 6:15 in the morning and i have helmut-hair due to long sweaty bike commute!

I stand corrected, Hoss. 6 for $1.54 is a smashing bargain. I guess it is a matter of perspective; the first place I went wanted 6.99 for 2 no matter how many I bought. I wanted 12 leading to a grand total of $42...yikes!

The erotic portfolio I have of myself, professionally done of course, did not even cost 42 dollars.

Anything similar to this would probably be best:

On a more serious note... I've been told that the photo goes in your folder and is used primarily for remembering a student after an interview. It is much easier for them to recall a student and how the interview went by face rather than just some info written down.

Plus in my little imagination, I always picture them pasting your photo on big wall once you're accepted and have returned the deposit so they can see how the whole class is taking shape. Kinda like those reality shows that require tryouts and you always see the judges putting all the pics of the people who made it to the next round in a pile together. 😀

glamour shots is a WASTE, unless you need photos for something else. they wanted ~$80 for a 2 hour photo session, multiple poses and dress changes. they try to sell you on it, they have a pro photographer, makeup artist, graphic designer, blah blah.
if you're not comfortable with DIY (photoshop), just take some shots with digi cam, put on CD/flash drive, and print at walgreens, cvs, etc. it was like $7 for 8 pictures when i did it.

I agree, you have to look your best and attractive. However this does NOT mean TRASHY (no cleavage please)... psychology studies suggest that attractive people get into profesional schools more so than the uggg mugggsss! Also, attractice criminals get lighter sentences and attractive attorneys are more likely to get their way with regard to their clients case.
