Would a 3.0 GPA for the first term freshman year look bad? I have a 3.76 GPA from two years at a commuity college from takin college courses in high school. There is nothing I want to do more than to get into med school

HELP

I had a 3.0 my first year in college due to some traumatizing circumstances. After some hard work, I have raised it back up to a 3.5 (I'm a senior). I don't think it looks bad if you put some more effort from now on and get a higher GPA.

Everybody makes mistakes, especially your first year of college. There is a lot to adjust to. Just dedicate yourself from here on out to getting stellar grades (and don't forget EC's, and having fun!). No need to panic 🙂

Stop. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath.

You done? Nope? Do it again, for real this time.

Back? Alright, let's discuss this rationally.

It's not the end of the world. It's not great, and it's certainly not what you wanted, but it's done. You can't perseverate over it. It's done; now you have to fix it.

Find out what made you get non-As. Assess your study habits. Do you cram, or do you spread out everything during the week? Do you go over your notes on occasion, or do you find yourself pulling all-nighters to finish an essay? Do you use your time efficiently? You'll probably find - if you do this honestly - that there are things you can improve. No, I do not know what they are, but I bet you can figure it out.

Now, correct your behaviors. Work your butt off, go the extra mile, do what you have to do to make sure that it doesn't happen again. You have time to make things better - though you'll never be able to truly erase it - but only if you turn it around right now.

If it happened because of extraneous circumstances, then crap. Oh well, maybe you'll have a nice story out of it to tell interviewers.

I didn't have a good freshman year either. I changed my study habits and focused more. It's not hard to do well, it just takes determination and effort. It's only October so I'm sure that there are more homework/quizzes/tests so if you put more time into your studies, you can end your classes with decent grades.

Calm down. Find out why you received Bs, instead of As. Like others have said, there are a lot of other students who have rough first years. A 3.0 isn't the end of the world.
