Attended UCLA,

3.1 overall GPA, 3.08 BCPM, Bioengineering major
39Q (13s across the board)
ECs: 1 year research, 1 yr volunteering, spent time in China shadowing a doc in China, and will be going to Costa Rica in Sep on a medical service mission.

LORs I expect to be good

What are my chances at lower-mid tier med schools? I've also applied to DO schools as a safety.

Thanks =)

I was biomedical engineering, with a 3.2 GPA, 3.0 BCPM.

I had a 32 (R or S i forget).

I had publications, clinical volunteering, leadership positions, blah blah.

I got 7-8 interview invites, 3 acceptances.

Your MCAT score will throw open some doors. I think you've got a good shot at lower-mid, try a few reaches, who knows you might get a former engineer who is sympathetic. Be sure to apply as early as you can without sacrificing application quality.

Biomedical engineering is considered a hard major, so you should get some leeway. You have an excellent MCAT, so that will help. Not guaranteed, so make sure you apply widely, but if you have an upward trend in a hard major, it will go a long way.

Thanks for the replies 🙂

I applied to the UCs as a reach and to DOs as a backup, so hopefully by next year I'll be somewhere at least
