Such a great feeling to be done! I won't give you guys a breakdown of what I did to study -- feel free to ask though! --, but I will share my practice exam scores with you guys. I've been lurking on this thread for the past few months now, and seeing practice scores compared to actual scores was always encouraging in some way. Don't let Achiever or Topscore get you down, honestly, if you're able to score in the 16's, expect to score much, much higher on the actual exam.

Here are my practice scores in this following order PAT-QR-RC-Bio-GC-OC-TS-AA:

Achiever Test#1: 17-18-15-14-17-17-16-16
Achiever Test#2: 17-20-14-16-16-18-17-17
Achiever Test#3: 18-17-17-14-17-17-16-16
Achiever Test#4: 18-15-15-15-15-15-15-15
Achiever Test#5: 20-16-13-14-14-13-14-14
Achiever Test#6: 17-15-19-15-15-17-16-16
Topscore Test#1: 21-20-19-17-19-19-19-19
Topscore Test#2: 23-18-19-15-17-23-18-18
Topscore Test#3: Bio-18, GC-19, OC-23, TS-20

Good luck to everyone! 🙂

Awesome scores! You're going to have your choice between some great dental schools next year.

Geez, your scores are nearly identical to mine! As is how we both did on the achiever tests lol. I must say that I am very jealous that you got the 22TS though 😛. Congrats man, looks good 🙂

While I 100% agree, when taking the test I was told this a million times and refused to believe anyone. Now we can espouse this but the people who haven't still taken the test will be skeptical of our claims. Regardless though very well done and congrats on the great score!

Oh my gosh! I totally bookmarked your DAT breakdown from December lol. Great job on your scores too! I looked at your post every now and then to gain some inspiration. I tried not to look at it too often though, since I didn't want to raise false hopes haha. Thanks again 🙂

Thank you, thank you! I see you've already been accepted into dental school! Congrats! 😳

Good job!!

Also, what materials did you use?

Thanks!

To refresh myself on the sciences I watched and took notes on Chad's orgo and gen chem videos. For bio I read through Baron's AP Bio once and took the end of chapter quizzes. For a while I also used the ACS book for orgo before I shifted all of my attention to the Destroyer book. That book is great! There's a section in that book that has roadmaps for orgo, and while all reactions may not appear on the exam, it's still a great summary of key reactions.

I went through each section of the Destroyer at least three times, and I went through the entire Math Destroyer book too, doing all ten or eleven exams -- you can tell this was overkill. The actual DAT's QR portion was really easy, I was very surprised. Annnd since bio was my weakest section, I read through "Alan's Bio Notes" a few times the week before my exam.

To prepare for the PAT section, I took all of the exams that came with the "Crack DAT" software. From what I've read, it seems as though people don't really use the Crack DAT Science, but since it came with the package that I initially bought, I thought "why not?". I was able to fit in doing at least 3-4 of the CDS tests before I shifted gears and started doing the Achiever and Topscore tests.

If you have any other questions, let me know!

Hmmm, I believe I had one topic on morality, another on fungi, and one on epithelial cells.

Same 3 I had way back in January. The fungi and epithelial cells passage both surprised me as I felt if you had a good background in some science courses (ie anatomy, physiology for the epithelial cells and microbio/gen bio 2/cell bio) you could have potentially known a lot of the answers for these questions without reading the passages.

Nice job man. You killed it. Congrats. Your scores are very similar to mine. The one difference is I didn't do achiever at all and I'm glad I didn't. If I've seen such low scores on achiever I will probably keep postponing the exam.

lol, since I was secretly lurking on this site I knew that Achiever was much harder than the actual exam. The first time I took it, I was kind of ecstatic that I at least was able to pull a 16 haha. But yeah, I know what you mean, those scores are horrendous if taken at face value, especially the 14AA -- that makes me cringe a little .

So as I was taking the RC portion of the exam, I definitely felt like the majority of the answers could have been derived by using the "search & destroy" method. Those passages and questions were much less complex compared to Achiever! For those who haven't taken the exam yet, I'd suggest doing that method, it took me longer to get through each passage and its questions because I spent time reading each one, only to have to refer back to the passage for the questions.

Well I am glad you found it of use. My only hope was to help others with that thing and so far it seems to have achieved that hope!

Also I had the exact same passages as you...I am really surprised that you had them in March White Fang had them in Jan and I had them way way back in December as did another SDN member who took it very early in Jan.

Apparently our test had a very difficult Bio Section. Did you have a question about micro-arrays? Not that it matters since we managed to be done with this test, but ADEA should get a golden star for not recycling material...

Lol, yes! I did have one question on micro-array!

Those are scores to die for! Ugh I hated my RC, they threw me two easy topics about cancer and genetics, but then threw me a curve ball with one about the history of fiber optics....

Aw, but your scores aren't much different from mine. What boosted my AA were my OC and QR scores. I just glimpsed at your scores again and your RC was really good! Much better than mine! I should've done search and destroy, but it's okay, I'm thankful for my scores hehe.

You're applying this cycle right? I already started looking through the ADEA AADSAS manual, ah, so much to do!

No problem. How did you study for verbal? Would reading Scientific American, or Time magazine help?

I used Crack Dat Reading, Achiever, and Topscore to practice the RC. I didn't really do any outside reading. But if I remember correctly a lot of the actual DAT RC questions could've been answered through search and destroy. It was my fault for not having a better strategy, hence my lower score in that section 🙁.
