hey guys, I'd resigned myself to applying next cycle but I'm reconsidering cuz I just got my mcat back. I have 200 hrs of volunteering for planned parenthood, the hospital and an adult learning center, 25 hrs of shadowing gp's, 600 hrs of CNA work, and tons of research as I've been working in a med school research lab for the past year. My plan was to take a few more science classes to boost that gpa and wait till next summer. Should I throw an app into the ring this August? I have no preference where I live at all and have nothing against new schools.

I have similar stats with slightly higher mcat and a gpa and I'm applying! Just apply broadly to be safe man. Good luck.

Your sGPA is a bit low but your stats and experiences look very good. I think you should apply for this year's cycle if you do not mind what school accepts you. I could say you might get 85% of the DO schools to give you a secondary invite.

You have a real good chance. I had lower GPA, and a 513 MCAT. Got 6 interviews, 3 acceptances. And, I wasn't complete with my primaries until the end of September. Like was said above, if you aren't super picky on location, I think you will have a really strong chance at getting accepted somewhere.

Was this for MD or DO?

May I ask what schools you had success with?
