Start your list with your state schools, and apply broadly. You'll get lots of love, especially with evidence of service to the Hispanic or other underserved communities.

Thanks Goro. Would definitely prefer to stay in CA, so good to hear i should apply to all state schools. As for OOS, how does this list look:

Albany
Einstein
BU
Case
Rosalind
Drexel
Tulane
Emory
Indiana
Temple
+ UC's (-UCR) and USC

Any other suggestions/replacements/should I add more?
Also do you have any input on my clinical volunteering? It was during from high school into sophomore year of college. Is it okay to keep that on my application?

LOR difficulties have forced me to remake my list. I updated my first post with the new list. If anyone could give some input that would be helpful.
Thanks!

Also any input on California Northstate? Is it worth throwing an app its way?

@Goro @gyngyn Any input on the new list? Also what do you think about California Northstate? Option or nah?

CN"u" is the closest thing we have to a Carib diploma mill in the US. Go to Western or Touro-CA if you want to stay in CA and get shut out at the other CA schools.

Suggest adding Creighton, Loyola, U AZ to the list. Why U MN? It's freezing there! Perhaps try OH State instead, or SUNY-SB

U of M likes CA's Mexican Americans.

Gotcha on CNU, won't be applying there then. I just want an acceptance for this cycle, so I want to get a list that can help with that. I'll add those two DO schools just to help with that cause.
Are those additions to replace any on my list or just completely new?

Thanks for the help Goro. Really appreciate it.

Here's my list
In-State: UCLA, UCI, UCSD, Charles Drew, UCD, USC, UCSF, Stanford
OOS: Mayo (AZ), U MN, UPitt, Emory, Case, Tufts, Tulane, Illinois, Creighton, Loyola, U AZ
DO: Western, Touro-CA

Add UCR IF you're from the Inland Empire.

If you have a lot of service, consider Netter, Loyola, Gtown, BU, SLU and Rush

In my personal, purely anecdotal evidence, I have seen Mayo push for higher metrics this cycle given the new Dean's desire to climb USNWR rankings. Also, Mayo has (or at least used to have) a minimum of a 30 MCAT which is 79th percentile. I don't know what the cutoff for the new exam is, but perhaps consider swapping out Mayo (AZ) for something else.

Hey, thanks for the input, even if anecdotal. Mayo has always been a dream program of mine. I'm going to consider replacing it though, converted MCAT score is a 29/30 so it might be below the cutoff. I'll think about replacing it with one of the other schools mentioned by Goro.

Thanks again for the input, I really do appreciate it.

Not from the Inland Empire, so I don't think I'll fit under UCR's mission.
I think GTown and SLU might be good additions. Thanks Goro

To add, UCD asks for ties to Northern California in its secondary. Not a dealbreaker if you don't have any, but certainly doesn't help. I think UCI and UCLA/Drew will give you some love, as far as CA schools go.

Do you have language skills?

I can't recommend Northstate.

Thanks, will be removing CNU.
Spanish is my first language, so I am fluent. I have also volunteered as a medical translator at a free clinic, so I have experience using Spanish in a medical setting and with patients if that helps.

Thanks for the insight, its super helpful. Hopefully I do get some love from those schools. Those are some of my top choices.
